A Little History on the Process
The Chinese were the first to create the screen printing technique about 2000 years ago. Screens have come a long way since the Chinese first started stretching human hair over wooden frames. Considered to be the first form of screen printing, they would attach leaves to create the stencils and then printed garments, paper, and other substrates.
Screen printing was later perfected by the Japanese who used silk rather than human hair to create the mesh. Hence the name “Silk Screening” was used for years before synthetic screen mesh was created in the last century.
Today, Screen Printing is the industry standard for nearly all the imprinted graphic tees printed for retailers across the globe.
